If you thought the Choose Your Own Tees Stableford might bring out some bold experimentation, Thursday proved that old habits die hard. For most of the field, “choosing” simply meant lining up on the same tee they always play, while a few braver souls flirted with change before sensibly retreating. That said, the scoring didn’t seem to suffer, and the leaderboard stayed tight right through the afternoon.
Let’s get into the action.
?? Overall Stableford – Placegetters
1st – Richard Thomas – 39 points – $35
2nd – Bruce Boivin – 38 points – $30
3rd – Peter Stevenson – 38 points – $30
4th – Blair McNaughton – 37 points – $25
5th – Alson Foo – 37 points – $25
6th – Dean Corry – 37 points – $25
7th – Tony Moran – 37 points – $25
8th – David Harding – 37 points – $25
9th – Peter Sim – 36 points – $20
10th – Annette Fea – 36 points – $20
11th – Tom James – 35 points – $15
12th – Steve McDiarmid – 35 points – $15
13th – Julie Grant – 35 points – $15
A very healthy leaderboard, with Richard Thomas setting the pace and a big chasing pack hot on his heels.
? Twos Club – Busy Opening Hole
We had 6 twos in total today, scored by five different players:
Each collected $12 for their efforts and special mention to Bruce Boivin for doubling down!
Birdies Draw – Hole 13
The Birdies Draw landed on Hole 13, and it turned into a very good hole indeed for Cheli Larsen.
Her lone birdie on the day happened to land on the right hole, and she walked away with the entire $75 birdies pot. Proof that sometimes you only need one red number — as long as it’s on the right hole.
Net Eagles Draw – Hole 5
The Net Eagles Draw was pulled on Hole 5, with the spoils shared by:
-
Tony Moran – $37
-
Ben Farrell – $37
Two tidy paydays from one well-played hole.
Special Prizes
-
Longest Putt – Jeffery Smith – $10
-
Nearest the Pin (Men) – Blair McNaughton – $10
-
Nearest the Pin (Ladies) – Lynda Baker – $10
Some very respectable strikes on the short holes, and a confident roll from distance to close things out.
Final Call
Another strong Thursday Stableford in the books — tight scoring, plenty of prize winners, and a reminder that one well-timed birdie can sometimes be worth more than a whole handful elsewhere.
Congratulations to all our winners, especially Richard Thomas at the top and Cheli Larsen for turning Hole 13 into her personal ATM.
Onwards we roll — see you back out on the fairways very soon.
All the best,
Queenstown Golf Shop Team
