Opening Day Results – Blue Medal & Stableford
Well, what a start to the season! The sun was shining, the fairways looked sharp, and the Opening Day Blue Medal certainly separated those who’d been keeping their swing warm over summer from those who’d clearly been more committed to the 19th hole. A few wise heads decided that a Medal round on Day One was a bit too ambitious and ducked into the Stableford competition instead — no judgment here (well, maybe just a little).

Twos, Birdies, and That Jack Pot Again...
That thorn in our side Jack Pot decided to rear his ugly head once more — cleaning up both the Birdies hole # 7 and Net Eagle hole # 13 prizes for a total of $180. It’s getting harder to like that bloke.
There were plenty of Twos flying about as well:
Hole 11-Kris Brewin, Errol Frewen, Michael Taylor, Simon Hayes, David Harding, John Leith, Bradley Cross, Bruce Boivin Hole 14 as well)(two of them – greedy!), Steven Ridley, Fraser MacLachlan, James Sowerby, and David Clearwater on Hole 17 all picked up $7 each for their efforts.
And let’s give a special shout-out to Lewis Ferguson, who managed to Eagle the 16th (yep, that par 5!) — three shots, all business. He’s off to celebrate with a well-earned I Love Kimchi KFC Voucher. Nicely done, Lewis — we all know how brutal that hole can be. May that bird still be on your shoulder for the Anderson Trophy tomorrow.

A Note on Scorecards (Seriously, Folks...)
We love a bit of passion out there, but your scorecards are looking like a Jackson Pollock painting. Remember — the scanner reads the first mark it sees, including blood! If you make a mistake, don’t try to erase it. Just cross it out clearly like the example at the bottom of your scorecard. Save our committee some headaches (and paper cuts).
And the example to the left shows the top card filled out correctly- mistakes neatly scribbled out
This example shows that someone erased the cross on 5 and then put it in 7, the scanner picked up the 5 first as it was still enough for it to be read.
A Final Note from the Pro Shop:
A few of you may have gotten to know the best looking cart cleaner we've had,( Sorry Tom James, you've lost top spot), Young Jack Thomas. Jack is off to boarding school in Christchurch this week. We will miss his cheekiness and inquisitive nature, Jack was always willing to go out and meet new people on the course too, a great ambassador for the club. We will hopefully see Jack when he returns on school holidays.
