Thursday Stableford – 5th February 2026

It was one of those classic Queenstown days where the weather couldn’t quite make up its mind — a mix of cloud cover, patches of sunshine, and just enough breeze to keep you honest (and remind you that golf balls are surprisingly light objects). But that didn’t stop a cracking turnout for today’s Thursday Stableford event.

Stableford Results

The leaderboard was tight, but the winners rose to the top:

1stRodney Clay – 39 pts – $40 (nice to see Rodney cooking both on and off the course!)
2ndMark Doherty – 38 pts – $35
3rd–7th (tie)Pieter-Jan Werbrouck, John Strettell, Errol Frewen, Tom James, and Frank Garthwaite – all on 37 pts, $30 each
8th–13th (tie)Kim Wilkinson, Ross Herron, Ken McKenzie, Russell Thoms, Bruce Boivin, and David Grant36 pts, $20 each
14th–19th (tie)Genevieve Herron, Ernst Wenger, Corey Sinteur, Grant Hardy, Annette Fea, and Alan Gaunt35 pts, $15 each

A fine field of competitors and plenty of strong scores across the board — clearly, a few of you brought your A-game today!

Two’s Club

The short holes were alive with action today — plenty of accurate irons and a few near misses:

Two’s winners ($9 each):
James Pearson, Russell Thoms, Rodney Clay, Ron Cusick, Tom James, Matt Evans, Colin Tanner, David Grant, and Grant Hardy.

Birdies & Net Eagles

The Birdie Hole was #10, and four players made the most of it — Tom James, Maurice Keith, Kim Wilkinson, and Colin Tanner, each pocketing $21.

Meanwhile, over on Hole 1, Frank Garthwaite struck gold — the only player to snag a Net Eagle on the day! His work was worth a tidy $85, taking home the entire pot himself. Not a bad day’s work, Frank — drinks on you next time!

Special Prizes

  • Nearest the Pin:

    • Grant Hardy – $10

    • Suzanne Vidak – $10

  • Longest Putt: Dan Clearwater – $10 (the best part of 50ft from what I hear!)

Final Word

Another wonderful day at Queenstown Golf Club — great weather, great company, and plenty of impressive golf. From steady scoring to sharp short games, it was the perfect way to spend a summer’s day on the fairways.

Here’s to more of the same next week — sunshine, good laughs, and maybe even another lucky net eagle or two!

Have a great evening everyone,
