Saturday Men’s Blue Tee Medal & Ladies Stableford
It was one of those days where the weather made you earn every point. A blustery morning greeted the early starters, and it was all about keeping your shots low and your hats on.

And for you early starters, we hope you appreciated that Erica got out of bed early to come to work with dad(a.k.a Rodney to us,) and that smile along with a coffee would be a great start to anyones day.
Our overall Net Winner, Stephen Makuta, handled the conditions like a pro — six under his handicap in winds that could’ve blown the dimples off a golf ball. He kept it low, straight, and sensible while the rest of us were battling for balance. Outstanding golf, Stephen!
As the morning passed, the wind took a short lunch break before cranking back up for the later groups — bringing on the classic “bed-hair and wind-assisted slices” look. But not all gusts were bad news.
Take Lewis Ferguson, for example — he found himself way right on Hole 14, just short of the cart path from 15’s tee. From 40 metres out, he played what looked like a tidy chip that might stop short... until Mother Nature gave it a helpful nudge, blowing it straight into the hole for a two! Proof that sometimes, it’s better to be lucky and good.

Twos, Birdies & Net Eagles
There were more than 15 two’s out there today — an absolute flood of precision putting! But with that many, we’ll spare the full roll call and focus on the drawn hole, #7, where our sharp shooters Conor O’Boyle, Jonny Chan, Reuben Williams-Warren, and Michael Craig all pocketed $22 each.
And speaking of Conor, he pulled off something rarely seen — birdying all four par 3s! According to life member and club historian Bill Grant, this feat has only been done once before in club history. Conor’s getting an extra $30 bonus for the performance — and the “Luck of the Irish” award for the day!
Birdie Hole: #5 — claimed by that lovable rogue Jack Pot, who continues to hold onto everyone’s money until a member proves truly worthy.

Net Eagle Hole: #3 — congratulations to Jack Walker, Brendan Peet, Richard Thomas, and Adrian Januszkiewicz, each earning $22 for their fine play.

And here's our Golden Girls of the bar and cafe catering to your liquid needs at the end of the day. Apparently you should never ask a lady her age but it was volunteered that their average age is 71.
Fun Fact, did you know that the characters in the Golden Girls series were playing characters in their 50's but were all in their 60's, apart from Sophia, she was 62 playing 79 when it first aired in 1985
Final Word
Between the gusts, the laughs, and some stellar golf, it was another cracking Saturday at Queenstown Golf Club. The wind might’ve messed up a few swings (and hairstyles), but it also helped a few along the way.
Here’s to more blue skies, fewer gusts, and a bit more of that “friendly wind” for next week’s rounds!
