MEMO TO MEMBERS
Winter Course Layout and Members Competition Format – Effective Monday 11 May

From Monday 11 May, the Club will move to a temporary 9-hole winter layout to support
the upcoming construction programme and seasonal playing conditions.

The 9-hole loop will utilise the western side of the course and will play in the following order: (CURRENT) 10, 11, 12, 13, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

For scorecard and handicap purposes, this loop will be renumbered as holes 1–9,
with holes 10–18 representing the second rotation for those playing 18 holes.

This configuration has been submitted to Golf New Zealand and will be formally rated for
both 9-hole and 18-hole play. All scores returned under this layout will therefore be fully
handicap-qualifying for both 9- and 18-hole rounds.

Construction Works and Course Access

By closing the remaining 9 holes to all play, we are able to provide the construction team
with uninterrupted and safe access to the work areas. This is critical to maintaining both
efficiency and safety.

Having a fully separated construction zone also gives the Club flexibility to schedule work
across any day of the week if weather events, particularly rain, interrupt progress. This
continuity is essential to keeping the programme on track.

Subject to weather and ground conditions, we are aiming to reopen the full 18-hole course
within approximately 14 weeks.

Competition Format

To ensure that as many members as possible can continue to participate during this period, the following competition structure will apply:

  • Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday competitions will be 9 holes only
  • Competition tee times will operate between 10.00am and 2.00pm
  • This format enables greater access for all members within the available daylight and course configuration

Casual Play

On non-competition days, members may choose to play:

  • 9 holes, or
  • 18 holes (two rotations of the rated 9)

To maintain comfortable playing conditions and avoid the late-afternoon temperature drop
once the sun moves behind Ben Lomond, the last 18-hole tee times will be at midday.

As always, we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment and ask that you
please cancel if you’re unable to use your reserved tee time

This temporary winter arrangement has been designed to maintain handicap integrity,
maximise participation opportunities, and allow essential course works to be completed
safely and efficiently.

We will keep you informed of progress of this undertaking through regular member updates.

We appreciate the understanding and support of all members as we undertake this important programme of improvements and look forward to returning to full 18-hole play as soon as conditions allow.
