Thursday Stableford – 12 February 2026
After a few weeks of wild winds and sideways golf balls, it was nice to finally get a calm day for today’s Thursday Stableford. The fairways were friendly, the greens rolled true, and the scores reflected it — well, mostly. A few of us still found the rough (and the trees, and the water), but we won’t name names.
The clubhouse buzz was strong afterwards, and the staff had extra reason to smile by the end of the day — but we’ll get to that bit of good fortune shortly…
Results – Main Field
1st: Greg Kerr – 44 pts – $45
2nd: Mark Doherty – 41 pts – $40
3rd: Ben Farrell – 41 pts – $40
4th: Bill Davidson – 40 pts – $35
5th: Annette Fea – 39 pts – $25
6th–8th: Christian Jones, Peter Stevenson & Dan Clearwater – 38 pts – $22 each
9th: Neil Templeton – 37 pts – $18
10th–15th: Jason Thomsen, Rodney Clay, David Clearwater, Tony Moran, Murray Carter, Ian Browne – 36 pts – $15 each
16th–23rd: Steve Moore, Bruce Cunningham, John (Boggy) McDowell, Ron Cusick, David Grant, Holmes Byars, Hamish Crawshaw, and Bernt Carlsson – 35 pts – $10 each
Great scoring across the board — it’s amazing what a still morning and a few friendly bounces can do for confidence!
Two’s & Special Prizes
There were plenty of two’s out there today, with six players cashing in for $14 each:
Colin Tanner, Ernst Wenger, Neil Watson, Tom James, Hamish Crawshaw, and Fraser MacLachlan — nice work, gents!
The Birdie Hole was #9, and in a beautiful twist of fate, the random number generator decided to give back to the staff — our very own Rodney Clay claimed the entire $83 pot! We can only assume that “luck” was involved… and possibly a bit of inside information from the golfing gods.
The Net Eagle Hole was #13, shared by Greg Kerr and Neil Templeton, both walking away with $41 each — tidy work on one of the tougher holes on the card!
Nearest the Pin
-
Peter Sim – $10
-
Julianne Bowman – $10
As for the Longest Putt, this served as a mere decoration on the 7th green today. Rest assured that $10 was put back into the stableford prize pool above.
Around the Course
A fresh look out on the course today — new tee markers have been put in place and are already earning compliments from members. You’ll also spot new sand buckets at each tee. These are one investment we’ll happily see depreciate in value — the more sand you use, the better the fairways look!

So fill, walk, tip, and smooth — your greenkeepers will love you for it.
Final Word
A cracking day of golf all round — calm conditions, hot scores to compliment the temperature, and a few very happy prize winners. Congrats again to Greg Kerr for topping the field, Rodney Clay for single-handedly cleaning out the Birdie pot, and everyone else who played their part in another fun Thursday at Queenstown Golf Club.
Here’s to more blue skies, low scores, and maybe a little bit of that “Rodney-style” luck next week!
Have a great evening,
Queenstown Golf Shop Team
