After a couple of bitterly cold days, Tuesday turned on the charm with a stunning winter's day that reminded everyone why golf in Queenstown at this time of year is so special. Sunshine, calm conditions and spectacular views made for a perfect afternoon on the course.

The scoring was every bit as enjoyable as the weather.

Leonie Williamson continued her fine run of form, claiming top honours with 21 Stableford points, edging out Marti Groves on countback after both ladies finished tied at the top of the leaderboard. Kay Shaw wasn't far behind with an excellent 20 points, while Lynda Baker rounded out the major prize winners with a solid 19-point effort.

Stableford Results

1st – Leonie Williamson – 21 pts – $25

2nd – Marti Groves – 21 pts – $21

3rd – Kay Shaw – 20 pts – $15

4th – Lynda Baker – 19 pts – $11

5th – Hanna Kang – 18 pts – $7

6th – Nola Pratt – 18 pts – $7

The special prizes were decided remarkably early in the day, and despite another manier golfer heading out afterwards, nobody could better the efforts of our early starters.

Special Prizes

Nearest to the Pin – Hole 2
Marti Groves – $20 Life Pharmacy Wilkinson's Voucher

Marti Groves was among the first groups away and produced the shot of the day on the 2nd hole, claiming the Life Pharmacy Wilkinson's Nearest to the Pin prize. As player after player took their turn throughout the afternoon, Marti's name remained the only one on the sheet by day's end—a testament to just how good the shot really was.

Longest Putt – Hole 9
Gillian Douglass – $25 Neat Meat Voucher

Likewise, Gillian Douglass set the benchmark early with a superb Longest Putt on the 9th green. Rolled in by the very first group of the day, her effort somehow survived challenge after challenge as another 20 golfers tried in vain to knock her off the top spot. By the time the final group had finished, Gillian's putt was still the one to beat, earning her the Neat Meat Voucher and some well-deserved bragging rights.

Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy such a beautiful winter's day. It just goes to show that sometimes getting the early tee time does pay off—provided you can back it up with a shot or putt good enough to survive the entire field! Here's hoping all of your putts teetering on the edge drop, eventually (unlike Dezlee's birdie effort below...sorry Dezlee). Until next time!
