Windswept Warriors and the Par Pursuit

It was blowy. It was blustery. It was… golf in Queenstown. Despite Mother Nature’s best attempt to tip over flagsticks and test bunker composure, our ladies turned up for their Par Competitions across both 18-hole and 9-hole formats, and came out swinging — literally.

18-Hole Ladies – Full Format, Full Flair

With gusts strong enough to mess with even the most aerodynamic visors, it was Liz Jerram who stayed steady and led the field with a brilliant score of +7, taking home $25 for her efforts. Right behind her was Judy Sim, also with +7, who matched her payout with a tidy $25 as well.

Special Highlights – 18-Hole Edition

  • Birdies: Judy Sim dropped a gem on Hole 10, taking home $24. Rumour has it the putt was part skill, part wind assistance.

  • Net Eagles: Annabel McCulloch added another highlight to her round with a stunning net eagle on Hole 16, also worth $24.

  • Only Two of the Day: Sharron Payne showed the field how it’s done with the only two recorded, worth a handy $24.

  • Nearest the Pin: Suzanne Vidak – laser-like precision, even in crosswinds.

  • Longest Putt: Sharron Payne. Holing a bomb from downtown!

9-Hole Ladies – Compact but Competitive

It might’ve been half the holes, but it wasn’t half the action. Anne Oliver claimed the top spot with a solid +1 performance and walked away with $20. Backing her up were Abbe Moffatt and Jackie Phillips, each earning $10 for their efforts.

Final Whistle

Wind or not, these ladies turned up and turned it on. From birdies to blow-away putts, it was a day of resilience, humour, and more than a few surprised golf balls.

Thanks to all who braved the breeze, and we’ll see you again soon — hopefully with calmer skies and just as much class.
