CENTENARY AMBROSE 2025 – RESULTS REPORT

What an absolutely unforgettable day at Queenstown Golf Club as we celebrated the Centenary Ambrose 2025 in spectacular style. The weather turned on its very best Central Otago brilliance, the course team delivered an immaculate setup, and the clubhouse buzzed with the kind of hospitality, laughter and camaraderie that makes this club so special.

From the very first tee shot, it was obvious this would be a day full of spontaneous laughter, outrageous attempts at “hero shots,” and plenty of good-natured ribbing between mates. It was tournament golf at its most joyful — fun, competitive, and filled with the special sense of community that defines Queenstown Golf Club.

Congratulations to Our Champions

A huge well-deserved round of applause for our 2025 Centenary Ambrose winners.

Overall Winners – Net 56.5

Richard Hogan
Billy Groves
Marti Groves

A superb effort from the trio, who combined consistency, creativity, and a few “how did they do that?” moments to take out first place. A fantastic performance on a field of 44 teams.

A Special Moment – Quinton’s Farewell Words

One of the most heartfelt highlights of the day came when Quinton spoke to the field after eight tremendous years as part of the Queenstown Golf Club team.

His gratitude, humour and humility resonated deeply with the room. We were genuinely moved — and incredibly proud — as Quinton and Lisa prepare for their next adventure: tackling the Asian Tour Qualifying Series. Thailand will be hot, the competition fierce, and the journey unforgettable.

From all of us at QGC:
Quinton and Lisa — go well, travel safe, and know your whole club is behind you.

Acknowledgements & Club Spirit

  • Huge thanks to Marti and Billy, who made the mad dash back for prizegiving (after a call from Kelly) after their 7:45am start. That’s commitment — and classic QGC spirit.

  • To every team who played: thank you for bringing energy, banter, and good old-fashioned fun to the day.

  • To our staff: from the pro shop to the bar to the course crew — you created an environment that players won’t forget.

Days like today don’t happen by accident. They happen because this club is built on people who care.

Final Thoughts

The Centenary Ambrose (an event donated by Nola Pratt) reminded us of everything that makes Queenstown Golf Club special — breathtaking scenery, a beautifully prepared course, spirited competition, and friendships that go well beyond golf.

Thank you to all 132 players who filled the course with energy today.

We look forward to seeing you back in 2026
