Hi everyone,

Today’s Lindsay Trophy was exactly what this long-running mixed pairs event is meant to be — competitive, good-natured, and full of laughs, with just the right balance of skill and strategy required by the Canadian Foursomes format. And as fate (or perhaps maple-leaf magic) would have it, our winners were led by none other than a Canadian himself. You couldn’t script it better.

Below are the full results and highlights from a brilliant day at Queenstown Golf Club.

Lindsay Trophy – Full Results

A tightly bunched leaderboard saw eight teams finish within just three shots — classic Canadian Foursomes scoring where every decision counts.

Place Team Net Score Prize
1st Lydia Clarke + Dan Van Sickle 64 $25
2nd Bill Shaw + Kay Shaw 67 $20
3rd Melanie Henderson + Steve Henderson 67 $20
4th Barbara Fraser + Graeme Fraser 67 $20
5th Kelly MacKenzie + Tom James 67 $20
6th Debbie Clearwater + David Clearwater 67 $20
7th Jeffery Smith + Nola Pratt 67 $20
8th Corey Sinteur + Annette Fea 67 $20

Clarke & Van Sickle were simply too steady and too sharp when it mattered, producing a superb net 64 to lift the Lindsay Trophy. A Canadian topping a Canadian-format event? Perfectly poetic.

A Nod to the Staff Team

A special mention can  go to our staff pairing of Kelly MacKenzie & Tom James, (Kelly off the back of birthday celebrations yesterday and Tom off the back of 4th place on closing day yesterday where he and Sungwoo Han had the lowest handicap of the day, +0.50). They not only finished inside the prize winners on a single-figure handicap (the only team in the field to do so), but also managed the remarkable feat of having all their crosses on the left-hand side of their scorecard.
Consistency? Strategy? Sorcery? We’ll let them explain it — but it certainly worked.

Nearest the Pin Winners

The pins were tucked, the wind was gentle, and a few players absolutely flushed their tee shots:

  • Hole 7 (Men): Daniel van Sickle

  • Hole 7 (Ladies): Jeri Elliot

  • Hole 17 (Men): Daniel van Sickle again — this one looked destined for a hole-in-one before common sense (and physics) intervened.

  • Hole 17 (Ladies): Sue Wilson

A superb showing, especially from Daniel, whose swing clearly found another gear today.

Final Thoughts

A cracking field, fantastic weather, plenty of smiles, and just a touch of Canadiana in the winner’s circle — the Lindsay Trophy once again delivered everything we love about mixed pairs golf at Queenstown.

Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to every pairing who made the day such a success. We look forward to seeing you again for the next instalment in our mixed-pairs trilogy.
