Sunday delivered another classic summer golf day at Queenstown — blue skies, smiling faces, and a “choose your own tees” Stableford that rewarded smart decisions… and a bit of boldness. Some went back, some even went forward!

And fittingly, it was the birthday boy who stole the show.

Overall Results – Choose Your Own Tees Stableford

1st – Lewis Ferguson – 42 points – $35
A superb round from big-hitting Lewis Ferguson, who celebrated his birthday in the best possible way — right at the top of the leaderboard. Power off the tee, touch around the greens, and just enough cake energy clearly did the trick. Happy Birthday, Lewis — and what a way to mark it!

2nd – Tom James – 38 points – $25
Always there or thereabouts, TJ put together another tidy round, keeping the pressure on the leader all the way in.

3rd – Richard Thomas – 38 points – $25
Matching Tom on points, Richard made excellent use of his tee choices and stayed rock-solid throughout the round.

4th – Deborah Clearwater – 37 points – $20
A strong showing from Deborah, right in the mix and rewarded with a top-five finish.

5th – Genevieve Herron – 37 points – $20
Consistent as ever, Genevieve kept the scorecard clean and the points ticking over.

6th – Ross Herron – 37 points – $20
Back-to-back Herrons on the leaderboard — good family bragging rights secured.

7th – Steven Ridley – 37 points – $20
Another steady performance in a very tightly packed leaderboard.

8th – Steve Henderson – 36 points – $15
9th – Jeri Elliot – 36 points – $15
10th – Luke Neal – 35 points – $12
11th – Peter White – 35 points – $12

Plenty of depth in the scoring, with just a handful of points separating the chasing pack.

Twos Club – Short Holes, Big Smiles

A healthy list of sharpshooters found the cup in two, each taking home $7:

  • Deborah Clearwater

  • Sean McSparron

  • Lewis Ferguson (yes, even on his birthday!)

  • Tom James

  • David Orpin

  • Steve Henderson

Nicely spread, and proof that precision still pays.

Special Prizes

  • Longest Putt – Hole 18
Quinn Farrell rolled in a beauty on the last to claim $10 credit.

  • Nearest the Pin – Hole 10
    Matt Evans – $10 credit
    Richard Thomas – $10 credit

Pin-high accuracy rewarded nicely on the short hole.

Birthday Bragging Rights

A final special mention to Lewis Ferguson, who combined birthday celebrations with a winning score of 42 points, a two, and a very convincing display of why he’s known as one of the club’s biggest hitters. If that’s how birthdays are done, we might all start having more of them.

Thanks to everyone who played and made it another cracking Sunday at Queenstown Golf Club. Merry Christman to all, enjoy the festive season, safe travels for those heading away, and we’ll see the rest of you back out on the fairways very soon.
