Thursday delivered one of those picture-perfect winter days that makes you remember just how lucky we are to play golf in Queenstown. Crisp conditions, beautiful surroundings and not too much mischief from the weather gods made for a terrific day out on the course, and boy did the scoring certainly took advantage of it!
With more than a third of the field playing below their handicaps, there was some seriously impressive golf on display. When you're looking at the leaderboard and seeing plenty of scores in the 19s and 20s, you know the conditions were pretty inviting!
Leading the charge was Mike Gain, who produced an excellent 22 Stableford points to take the win and $30. David Jerram and Simon Hayes both followed with 21 points, with David taking second and Simon third on the countback.

A special mention too for Sue Gain, who once again showed that the ladies are more than capable of mixing it with the Thursday field, matching five of the men on 20 points to finish in eighth place and collect $12.
With 22 points winning the day and 19 points still earning a share of the prize money, it was clearly a day when the clubs were behaving themselves. Let's hope we can bottle these conditions and bring them back for the next club day!
A beautiful winter's day, great company and some seriously good golf — hard to beat that combination.
