New $5 Raffle – Drawn Saturday 28th June
That’s right, folks—it’s raffle time again, and this one’s stacked!
Check out this beauty of a prize lineup:
Tickets are just $5 and available from the Pro Shop—don’t wait around, because if the last few draws were anything to go by, these will disappear faster than your mate’s birdie chances after one shanked drive.
Frosty Start, Warm Finish
Sunday kicked off with a cool surprise—a proper Queenstown frost! We had a 30-minute delay to let the sun do its thing and thaw out the fairways (and some frozen swings). But kudos to everyone who stayed patient; the delay didn’t chill your competitive spirit one bit.
New Course Layout: No One's Got Lost!
It’s official—two days into the course changeover and not a single member has gotten lost! Either the signs are working or you're all secretly carrying course maps in your scorecard holders.
What’s even better? The feedback has been positive—players seem happy with the new flow, and no one's accidentally teed off from the 5th green (yet). Keep it up!
Cutest Moment of the Day
Sunday wasn’t just about golf—it was about love (and precision ball striking)!
David and Julie Grant, our very own golfing power couple, pulled off a sensational shared achievement by each winning the Nearest to the Pin on hole 11. It was their second hole of the day and no one could beat it. We’re not crying, you’re crying.
A Pro Shop staffer was overheard saying, “We might need to start offering couples’ trophies at this rate.”
Competition Results
Top Stableford Scores
-
Luke Neal – 41 pts – smooth, clinical, and cashing in $40
-
Tilly Grant – also 41 pts – just a whisker behind on countback. Top effort!
-
Heather Atkinson & David Grant – 40 pts each and smiles all round
Nice to see both the men’s and ladies' divisions shining through in the top places!
Twos
Only one player managed to roll in a two this week—Danny King—earning himself a clean $32 payout. Some weeks it pays to be sharp with the flat stick.
Special Prizes
-
Longest Putt on 18 – Evan Merritt – $10 credit (nice roll!)
-
Nearest the Pin on 11 – Julie & David Grant – $10 credit each, plus eternal bragging rights
That wraps up another fantastic Sunday at Queenstown Golf Club. Thanks to everyone who braved the frost, dodged the confusion of the new layout, and brought their A-game.
See you at the next comp—and don't forget to grab your raffle tickets before they’re gone!
Cheers from the Pro Shop Team
