Sunday 22 June – Pairs Special 6’s Stableford

“Golf is 90% mental and 10% mental.” – Jim Murray

Wetter Than a Fish in a Raincoat...

Let’s start by tipping our caps to everyone who braved the wet, wild and utterly feral winter conditions. It wasn’t golf – it was trench warfare with umbrellas and questionable waterproofs. Some were heard wondering if they’d accidentally signed up for an open water swimming meet. One player claimed their socks weighed more than their irons by the end.

To those who stayed home by the fire – we envy your dry toes. But to those who showed up – you’re the real heroes of Queenstown golf (and possibly mad).

The Big Winners – and an Odd Pairing Indeed

Congratulations to Judith Mitchell + Mystery Partner, who took out top spot with a tidy 68 points. It was a superb effort that left the rest of the field chasing shadows (and dry towels).

Second place went to Paul Inger + Matt Evans on 64 points, followed by Craig Scholes + James Ward on 58. Luke Neal + Justin Leonard rounded out the top four with 51 points.

Young Gun Takes Flight – Liam Oh's First Eagle!

Special mention and a resounding round of applause goes to Liam Oh, who bagged his first ever eagle on the course – making a stunning two on Hole 15. That’s no small feat, and definitely not just a fluke.

Even better, his proud dad Jaydee Oh was back from holiday just in time to witness the moment. We reckon a celebratory feast is in order – and what better than unlimited Korean fried chicken for that heroic effort? Liam’s earned it. Jaydee, the ball’s in your court (or should we say, in your wok?).

Spot Prizes & Pin-Winning Prowess

  • Two's Winners (and $9 richer): Liam Oh, Paul Inger, and Matt Evans

  • Nearest the Pin: Annie Han & Cory Clark – laser-focused!

  • Longest Putt: David Grant – either incredible skill or a very lucky roll.

Until next time – keep swinging (and maybe invest in some decent rain gear).

Stay dry, stay cheeky,
