Birdies & Net Eagles – Athol’s Big Payday

The men snuck into the headlines courtesy of Athol Stephens, who had himself a very profitable day on the specials board:

• Birdie Hole – Hole 1:
  Athol Stephens won the Birdies Draw on the 1st, collecting a very handy $36 for his trouble. Talk about getting out of the blocks quickly.

• Net Eagles – Hole 15:
  The Net Eagles Draw landed on Hole 15, and both Athol Stephens and Jo Denton shared the spoils – $18 each added to their accounts.

Not a bad afternoon’s work: birdie money and net eagle money on the same card. The pro shop till will be seeing Athol and Jo again shortly.

Twos Winners

Only two players found that perfect combination of line and length to chalk up official twos today:

• Ben Stevens – 2 on a par 3, banking $18.

• Jaydee Oh – matching him with a 2 and $18 of his own.

On a day when the greens had just enough pace to be dangerous, those are classy numbers.

  Sharron’s iron play was sharp enough to claim the NTP and add a little extra to her already solid return for the day.

• Longest Putt – Joan Blomfield – $10
  Joan not only finished in the prizes but also rolled in the Longest Putt, proving that when the flatstick behaves, everything else feels easier.

Mixed 9 Hole Stableford – Short Course, Big Scores

The Mixed 9 Hole Stableford crew put on their own show over the shorter loop – and there was no shortage of quality golf.
