Hi everyone,
Saturday’s International Stableford turned out to be a proper adventure — part golf tournament, part endurance test. For those new to the format, it’s not your standard Stableford:
So, in short, the best plan of attack was to simply play golf and let the computer sort out the chaos afterwards.
Speaking of attack, the weather came at us with everything it had — rain, wind, sun, hail, and even a touch of snow. It was the full Queenstown sampler pack of the four seasons… plus one for good measure. Yet somehow, scores still soared and spirits stayed high.

The day unquestionably belonged to Sue Cunningham, whose phenomenal +14 blew the field apart. She played with the kind of rhythm that makes the rest of us wonder if we’ve been overthinking this game all along. In a format where the numbers can swing wildly, Sue was calm, consistent, and utterly in command — a well-deserved win.
Twos – The Sharpshooters
Despite the weather’s best attempts to blow balls into the lake, five players found perfection on the par 3s:
-
Ron Cusick
-
Evan Merritt
-
Grant Hardy
-
Tim McCormick
-
Matt Evans
Each collected $12 for their precision putting and nerve under fire.
Birdies & Net Eagles
-
Birdies Draw – Jack Pot (yes, again!) – $58
The man, the myth, the recurring legend. That name keeps popping up, and the pot keeps growing.
-
Net Eagles Draw – Ron Cusick – $58
A solid day all around for Ron — cashing in on both the eagles and twos. A very tidy double indeed.
Special Mentions
Today’s highlight reel was one for the books:
-
Hole 7: Nate Hedwig had his name as the only one on the NTP board early — no one dared to erase it.
-
Hole 11: The story of the day unfolded here.
-
Group 1: Quinton Thompson lands one close, chalks his name up confidently.
-
Group 2: Tim McCormick steps up and hits it closer.
-
Group 3: Evan Merritt, not to be outdone, watches it all unfold and then hits it even closer — claiming NTP while Tim was still watching.
That’s how you do it, lads — pure entertainment.
-

-
Hole 18 – Longest Putt: John Kennedy rolled in a classy mid-ranger to claim the prize and cap off his round nicely.
-
Random Card Draw: Jeff Morrison – $50 credit.
Vets Matches Update
The veterans’ knockout continues to roll along nicely:
Solid wins in tough match play conditions — those matches are really starting to heat up!
In Summary
Between the hailstones, sunbursts, and snowflakes, it was another wild Saturday at Queenstown Golf Club. The weather threw everything it had, but the golf — especially from Sue Cunningham — shone brighter.
Add in some dramatic moments on Hole 11, Ron’s double payday, and Jack Pot’s ongoing love affair with the Birdies Draw, and you’ve got the perfect mix of competition and comedy that keeps us coming back week after week.
Until next time — may your eagles be real, your “minus twos” rare, and your umbrellas stay upright.
