If Saturday was lively, Sunday turned it up another notch. The Christmas leftovers are still being worked off, the tees were chosen with confidence (or bravery), and the scoring showed that plenty of you are already in mid-season form. Another cracking summer day, great company, and a leaderboard that stayed tight right down the line.
Here’s how our Choose Your Own Tees Stableford unfolded.
Overall Stableford – Placegetters
1st – Karen Troon – 40 points – $40
A superb round from Karen, making the most of her tee choices and putting together a calm, confident card to take top honours. A well-earned win and a tidy payout to match.
2nd – Michael Wong – 37 points – $27
3rd – Cory Bellingham – 37 points – $27
4th – Tom James – 37 points – $27
5th – Richard Thomas – 37 points – $27
Four players tied on 37 points — proof that it was a tightly contested affair just behind the leader.
6th – Jack Walker – 36 points – $20
7th – Billy Groves – 36 points – $20
8th – Ron Cusick – 36 points – $20
9th – Martin Buckley – 36 points – $20
10th – Lewis Ferguson – 36 points – $20
Another logjam on 36 to round out the top ten, with very little separating the field.
Twos Money – Short Holes Paying Off
Only two players found the magic number today, but they were quality efforts:
Clean strikes, confident putts, and well rewarded.
Special Prizes
-
Longest Putt (18th) – Andy Lowe – $10 credit
A big roll on the final green to cap off the round nicely.
-
Nearest the Pin (Men) – Tom James – Hole 10 – $10 credit
-
Nearest the Pin (Ladies) – Julie Smith – Hole 10 – $10 credit
Pin-high accuracy from both, and a shared hole proving popular for prizes today.
Final Thoughts
Another great summer Sunday at Queenstown — relaxed vibes, plenty of laughs, and some excellent scoring across the board. Congratulations to Karen Troon on a standout win, and to everyone who featured on the prize list.
If the golf over the past couple of days is anything to go by, we’re in for a very enjoyable run through the holiday period.
See you all back out on the fairways soon,
