If anyone was wondering whether autumn had properly arrived… today answered that fairly quickly. The wind was absolutely ripping around the course, turning straightforward holes into survival exercises and making club selection more of a lucky dip than a science experiment.

Despite the conditions, there were still some impressive scores posted by those who managed to keep both their golf ball and their balance under control.

Sunday Stableford

1st – Mike Clement – 39 points – $25
A superb effort in difficult conditions and clearly the steadiest hand in the gale.

2nd – Jonny Chan – 38 points – $20
Another strong performance, handling the breeze far better than most.

3rd – Beth Chisholm – 36 points – $17

4th – Jeri Elliot – 35 points – $15

  • Bill Grant – 34 points – $12
  • Evan Merritt – 34 points – $12
  • Jo Denton – 34 points – $12
  • Josh Tierney – 34 points – $12

On-Course Highlights

  • Nearest the Pin (11th) – Tim Myers and Sue Cunningham – $10 credit each
  • Longest Putt (18th) – James Berryman – $10 credit

Final Word

A proper test of golf today. Low bullets, sideways flags, and more than a few conversations that started with “I can’t believe the wind got that.”

Well done to everyone who battled through it, especially those who managed to score while being blown from one side of the fairway to the other.
