Tuesday's Ladies 9 Hole Waltz was a race against two opponents — the golf course and the weather. Thankfully, the ladies made short work of both.

And while the ladies were working hard out on the golf course, the greenkeeping and volunteer crew were busy getting stuck into their work on the 15th hole, as pictured above.

Congratulations to everyone for whipping around the course and getting safely back into the clubhouse mostly dry before the rain decided to make its appearance. Timing, as they say, is everything.

The Waltz format once again produced plenty of teamwork, strategy and the occasional debate over whose score was actually counting. Leading the way was the team of Donna Barrett, Diane Austin, Jenny Ritchie and Tricia Lund-Jackson, who combined superbly to post a winning total of 48 points and take home the top prize.

Not far behind were Francie McDowell, Janet Latham, Sue Cunningham and Robyn Bitcheno, who secured second place on a countback with an excellent 45 points after a closely fought contest. Comiserations to the team of Kay Shaw, Sue Knowles, Ann McDowell and Jenny Browne who were pipped at the post.

Waltz Stableford Results

1st – Donna Barrett, Diane Austin, Jenny Ritchie & Tricia Lund-Jackson – 48 pts – $18 each

2nd – Francie McDowell, Janet Latham, Sue Cunningham & Robyn Bitcheno – 45 pts – $12 each

The special prizes provided some memorable moments as well.

Special Prizes

Nearest to the Pin Hole 2 – Dezlee Risby – $20 Life Pharmacy Wilkinson's Voucher

Longest Putt Hole 9 – Kay Shaw – $25 Neat Meat Voucher

Nearest to the Pin on Hole 2 went to Dezlee Risby, whose tee shot was the envy of everyone else in the field and earned her the $20 Life Pharmacy Wilkinson's Voucher.

Meanwhile, the Longest Putt was left until the final hole of the day on the 9th green. Kay Shaw stepped up and rolled in the winning putt to claim the $25 Neat Meat Voucher, finishing her round with a flourish just before the heavens opened.

A huge thank you to everyone who played. Team golf always brings plenty of laughs, a few scoring discussions, and occasionally some creative mathematics. Most importantly, everyone managed to complete their rounds before the rain arrived, making the clubhouse coffee and post-round stories taste just that little bit better.

Until next time!
