Thursday's 9 Hole Stableford was played under the watchful eye of weather gods who appeared completely unable to decide what sort of day they actually wanted.

One minute there was sunshine, the next minute there were threatening clouds, followed by a brief return to blue skies before another round of uncertainty rolled through. In the end, the golfers wisely ignored the forecast and got on with the important business of trying to accumulate Stableford points.

Leading the charge was Russell Moore, whose excellent 22-point round was enough to claim first place on countback from Jeffrey Morrison, who matched him shot for shot with 22 points of his own. Darren Hill rounded out the podium with a very tidy 21 points, while the middle of the leaderboard was packed tighter than a clubhouse raffle draw.

The scoring once again highlighted just how competitive the winter 9-hole format has become. With only a handful of holes to recover from mistakes, every putt, chip and drive carries a little extra importance, and judging by the number of players clustered on 19 points, a single shot here or there was often the difference between collecting a prize and simply collecting stories.

A big thank you to everyone who came out and supported the competition despite the weather's best efforts to keep everyone guessing.

Finally, we're still looking for additional volunteers to assist with our ongoing irrigation work around the course. If you are willing and able to lend a hand, please reach out to John "Toothy" McDowell. Any help is greatly appreciated, and it's a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the continued improvement of our course while enjoying a bit of camaraderie along the way.

Thanks again to everyone who played, and we look forward to seeing you back out on the course soon.
