Saturday's 9 Hole Blue Tee Stableford produced some outstanding scoring, and one player in particular decided that merely winning wasn't quite enough.
Aaron Hotop fired an incredible 24 points to not only take top honours but set what must surely be one of the benchmark scores of the winter season so far. While many golfers would be delighted with a point-a-hole average, Aaron was busy collecting points at a rate that had the rest of the field checking whether the Stableford settings had accidentally been changed.
The earliest to arrive this morning, Geoff McDonald's full warm up propelled him into second place with an excellent 23 points, while Richard Hogan and John Kennedy shared third place on 22 points. In truth, on most Saturdays any of those scores could be enough to collect the winner's cheque. Aaron simply had other ideas!

Special Prizes
Nearest to the Pin Hole 2 – Aaron Hotop – $20 Life Pharmacy Wilkinson's Voucher
Aaron's round wasn't just about scoring either. Nearest to the Pin on Hole 2 also belonged to him after he stuck his approach shot inside four feet. Despite the putt refusing to cooperate, there is little doubt that seeing one finish that close helped fuel his confidence on the way to a record-breaking 24 points!
Longest Putt Hole 9 – Athol Stephens – $25 Neat Meat Voucher
The Longest Putt competition was left until the very last hole of the day, and it was worth the wait. Athol Stephens unleashed a monster effort on the 9th green, with the ball travelling about as far as physically possible on the putting surface. Starting well down below the hole, climbing up the tier and then taking a dramatic right-hand turn late in its journey, the putt found the cup and earned Athol the $25 Neat Meat Voucher.
Ladies Stableford Results
The ladies competition was remarkably close, with Lynda Baker, Jeri Elliot and Anne Paton all finishing tied on 19 points. It doesn't get much tighter than that, with all three players deservedly shared the prize pool after strong and consistent rounds.
1st – Lynda Baker – 19 pts – $9
2nd – Jeri Elliot – 19 pts – $9
3rd – Anne Paton – 19 pts – $9
Congratulations to all of our winners and prize recipients. With scoring like that, winter golf is proving that shorter days don't necessarily mean lower scores.
