Thursday's 9 Hole Stableford produced another tightly fought contest, with just two points separating first from twelfth. On a cool winter's afternoon, every Stableford point was hard-earned, and there were plenty of players leaving the course thinking, "If only that one putt had dropped!"
Taking top honours was Jeff Smith, whose excellent 21-point round was enough to edge out the fast-finishing Bill Grant on countback. Jeff has been knocking on the door for a while, so it was great to see him finally kick it open with a well-deserved victory.
It was also fantastic to see Bill Grant back in the prizes after spending some time "on tour." Whatever adventures he's been having away from Queenstown, they certainly haven't hurt his golf. Bill's 21 points suggest he's returned refreshed, in good form and ready to make life difficult for the rest of the Thursday field once again.
A warm Queenstown Golf Club welcome also goes to Paul Angus, making his club day debut after joining us from his normal Arrowtown. Paul wasted no time making an impression, carding a very respectable 19 Stableford points to collect prize money in his very first outing. That's a pretty handy way to introduce yourself to the Thursday regulars!

Congratulations to all of our prize winners and a special welcome once again to Paul. It's always great to see new faces joining our club days, especially when they leave with a prize in hand! And with Bill looking back to his best after his time away, the Thursday regulars may have another familiar name to contend with over the coming weeks.
