Saturday's competition once again reminded us why Hidden Holes Stableford is one of the most entertaining formats on the calendar. Players spent the afternoon wondering which holes would count... and which ones would vanish into thin air.

The big reveal? Today's hidden holes counting to your score was every single par four! Holes 2, 3 and 7 didn't contribute a single point to the final tally.

Conditions couldn't have been much better, with a calm morning and mild temperatures greeting everyone on arrival. It made for a very pleasant day to be out on the course before the calculators came out to work out who had actually won.

In the men's competition, Mike Gain emerged victorious with 15 Hidden Holes Stableford points, edging out John Kennedy on countback after both finished tied at the top. A remarkable six players shared third place on 14 points, proving just how much the hidden holes can bunch the field together.

One of those players was David Harding, who enjoyed a day to remember. David produced a spectacular gross 33, golf that on most days would have him right in the hunt for victory. Unfortunately for him, Hidden Holes has a habit of rewriting the script! Despite his outstanding golf, it was only enough for a share of third once the mystery holes had been revealed.

David wasn't leaving empty-handed though. His superb approach shot also claimed the Life Pharmacy Wilkinson's Nearest to the Pin, giving him both a special prize and a place on the podium. Not a bad day's work at all.

And speaking of good form, Tim Morrison continues to make quite the impression. Fresh from winning on debut last weekend, Tim poked his nose into the prizes yet again, sharing third place with another excellent performance. Safe to say he's settling into club golf very nicely.

The ladies' competition was every bit as entertaining, with Jenny Ritchie proving the hidden holes suited her game perfectly. Jenny's 14 points earned her first place ahead of Judith Mitchell and Lynda Baker, who couldn't be separated on 12 points.

Judith wasn't content with just runner-up honours either. Playing in one of the final groups of the day, she snatched the Neat Meat Longest Putt prize late in the afternoon, denying everyone who had finished earlier the chance to celebrate. Sometimes leaving your best until last really does pay off!

While a few players were left wishing different holes had disappeared from the scorecard, that's exactly what makes this format such great fun.
