Well, ladies, what on earth was going on out there today?!

We've seen some impressive Stableford scoring at Queenstown Golf Club over the years, but today's 18-hole ladies' competition has taken things to a whole new level!

Annette Fea was in absolutely scorching form, producing a staggering 47 Stableford points to claim victory. In fact, Annette's round was so hot that even Walter Peak has gone up in flames!

And the remarkable thing is that Annette wasn't the only one tearing up the course. The scoring was so extraordinary that 42 points — yes, FORTY-TWO — was required just to win your entry fee back!

We reckon that's the best scoring we've ever seen in an 18-hole ladies' event. Normally, 40 points has you feeling rather pleased with yourself. Today, you could shoot 41 and still be wondering what went wrong!

18-Hole Stableford Prize Winners

1st — Annette Fea — 47 points — $30

2nd — Jackie Phillips — 44 points — $23

3rd — Sue Knowles — 44 points — $23

4th — Kay Shaw — 43 points — $18

5th — Janet Latham — 43 points — $18

6th — Liz Jerram — 42 points — $15

A special mention to Jackie Phillips, who continues to make herself right at home in the 18-hole competition. A cracking 44 points and second place — clearly this 18-hole business is agreeing with her!

Cheli Does It Again!

Somebody might want to check whether Cheli "Eunice from Roxburgh" Larsen has installed a homing device in her golf ball!

Cheli was at it again, claiming Nearest the Pin on the 11th and picking up another Life Pharmacy Wilkinson's voucher.

At this rate, the pharmacy might have to consider giving her a loyalty card!

Birdies, Eagles & a Final Flourish

There was more money to be won in the special prize draws:

  • Birdies Draw: Suzanne Vidak — $22

  • Net Eagles Draw: Carolyn Rooney — $11

  • Net Eagles Draw: Cheli Larsen — $11

  • Longest Putt: Vicki Buckham — Neat Meat voucher

And congratulations to Vicki Buckham, who saved something special for her final hole of the day, rolling in the longest putt to claim that Neat Meat voucher.

There's nothing quite like finishing your round with a beauty on the greens — especially when there's a decent feed attached to it!

9-Hole Ladies – Sharon Takes the Honours!

Meanwhile, our 9-hole ladies were having their own competition, with Sharon Burke leading the way on a very respectable 21 Stableford points.

It was a tight little leaderboard behind Sharon, with Nan Mavor, Dorothy Williamson and Francie McDowell all finishing on 20 points. Just one point separating the four prize winners — considerably less breathing room than Annette allowed the 18-hole field!

9-Hole Stableford Prize Winners

1st — Sharon Burke — 21 points — $15

2nd — Nan Mavor — 20 points — $8

3rd — Dorothy Williamson — 20 points — $8

4th — Francie McDowell — 20 points — $8

Robynne Finishes in Style!

And a big congratulations to Robynne Stevens, who produced the longest putt on her final hole, collecting a handy $10 credit.

A lovely way to finish the day. Even if the rest of the round didn't always go according to plan, there's nothing like one last putt disappearing into the cup to send you home smiling!

What a Day for the Ladies!

Congratulations to all our prize winners, particularly Annette on an extraordinary 47-point performance.

With 44 points only good enough for second, 43 points taking fourth and fifth, and 42 points scraping into the final paying position, we might have to reconsider what constitutes a good round around here!

And well done to both Robynne and Vicki for saving their putting magic until the very end.

Let's hope the scoring stays hot next week — although perhaps not quite as hot as Walter Peak!
