Sunday Stableford Wrap-Up – October 5

It was a fine Sunday session at Queenstown Golf Club, and what a difference a day makes! Gone were the soggy socks and misty glasses of Saturday. In their place? Glorious sunshine, mild breezes, and a field full of golfers ready to take on the hidden hazards and push their way up the Stableford scoreboard.

The Winners’ Circle

• 1st Place – Ollie Kirk (46 points): Simply untouchable today. A stunning round from the rising star!

• 2nd Place – Kate Webster (45 points): A personal best round for Kate and what a time to deliver it. Clearly school holidays have given her the extra edge and energy.

• 3rd Place – Slade Thomas (40 points): A strong finish on the back nine kept him in the prize money.

• 4th Place – Matt Evans (39 points): Consistent as ever.

• 5th = – Jamie Kirk & Matt Groves (38 points): Both snuck into the prizes with tidy performances.

There were only two twos – and fittingly, they came from:

• Tilly Grant – collecting a neat $13.

• Luca Kirk – precision play and another $13 in the bag

• Nearest the Pin on Hole 11:

  • Ladies: Tilly Grant – another standout performance.

  • Men: Troy Murdoch – putting it closer than a tailor’s tape.

• Longest Putt on 18: Cory Clark – rolled one in from what looked like the car park. Dead centre and straight in the jar.

Course Talk & Closing Words

The soft conditions were a surprise after Saturday’s squelchfest, and the greens ran pure for most of the day. It was the kind of spring weather that gives you just enough optimism to leave your raincoat in the car – and thankfully, it paid off.
