Queenstown Golf Club – Members Stableford Results
Saturday, 11 October 2025
It was one of those classic Queenstown golf days, the kind where your ball could start on the fairway, finish in the next postcode, and you’d still be smiling about it. The blustery winds kept everyone honest, swirling off the lake and making club selection feel more like meteorology than golf. But through it all, our hardy Saturday field battled bravely, and we were treated to some seriously good scoring despite the chaos from above.
Overall Winners
1st – John Stephens (42 points)
John was untouchable today, playing a round as smooth as a pinot on a Friday night. He kept his drives low, his irons crisp, and somehow managed to make putting in a gale look easy. Forty-two points, that’s wind or no wind, just pure class.
Tied 2nd – Mark Doherty (40 points)
Mark was right behind, proving that a strong short game and a bit of patience can conquer even the toughest of Queenstown days. He handled the gusts like a sailor trimming his sails, finishing on a solid 40 points.
Tied 2nd – Billy Groves (40 points)
Young Billy matched Mark on points, showing off a touch of finesse and a grin that said, “I knew that would drop.” He’ll be feeling good heading into school next week, the wind clearly was his mate.
3rd – Niall Quinn (38 points)
Niall’s swing looked effortless out there, and he played with the kind of quiet confidence that makes everyone around him nervous. A strong 38 points, consistent and controlled.
Tied 4th – Bruce Cunningham & Doug McGregor (36 points)
Both with a tidy 36 points each, a model of consistency. While others were fighting to stay upright in the breeze, Bruce & Doug just kept ticking along nicely.
The scoring remained tight all the way down. Even those in the mid-30s deserve credit, anyone who could keep a hat on today deserves a medal, never mind a stableford payout.
Twos Winners
Congratulations to Reuben Williams-Warren, Jaydee Oh, Ron Cusick, and Adam Chesher, who each managed to slot a two despite the swirling wind. Great touch out there, gentlemen, and nice to see those putters behaving themselves for a change!

Final Word
The wind might’ve been the loudest competitor today, but it didn’t stop the fun or the fine golf. Congratulations to all who battled the elements with courage, humour, and just the right amount of stubbornness. Next week promises calmer skies (fingers crossed), bigger jackpots, and plenty more tales from the tees.
Until then, keep it straight, keep it low, and keep it out of the trees!
