Irish Stableford Chaos – And One Jumbo Score
The course was set, the maths was questionable, and the scoreboard looked like something from a bingo hall rather than a golf comp – which is exactly how it should be on Irish Stableford day.
While plenty of players scratched their heads adding up multiplied points, one man simply decided to make it obvious.
Overall Results – All Placings, Scores & Winnings
1st – Alan “Brownie” Brown – 81 pts – $35
What a performance. Brownie didn’t just win – he blew the doors off. An eye-watering 81 points in Irish Stableford is the sort of total that makes the handicapper twitch and the rest of the field check whether they were playing the same course. Spectacular stuff from the big man.
2nd – Russell Thoms – 77 pts – $32
3rd – Michael (Mike) Wong – 76 pts – $29
4th – Josh Tierney – 76 pts – $29
5th – Jenny Browne – 74 pts – $26
6th – Jim Cullen – 73 pts – $23
7th – John Kennedy – 72 pts – $20
8th – Alson Foo – 69 pts – $17
9th – John Strettell – 69 pts – $17
10th – Cory Clark – 68 pts – $15
11th – Jaydee Oh – 67 pts – $12
12th – David Harding – 66 pts – $10

14th – Dylan Street – 66 pts – $10
15th – Brent Carlsson – 66 pts – $10
16th – Kayleigh Woodings – 65 pts – $8
A seriously deep leaderboard – plenty of big totals, but Brownie’s 81 was in a class of its own.
Twos – Precision in Amongst the Madness
On a day dominated by multipliers and team totals, two players still found time for some pure ball-striking:
Lovely, tidy work from both – the sort of thing that cuts through all the Irish arithmetic very nicely.
Special Mentions – Birdies, Net Eagles, Pins & Putts
Birdies on Hole 1
The drawn birdie hole was #1, and two players turned a good start into a profitable one:
Net Eagles Draw on Hole 14
The Net Eagles Draw landed, once again, on the infamous mystery man:
That name just keeps popping up – we’re all still waiting for someone to finally knock him off his perch.
Nearest the Pins
Laser-guided irons on the par 3s:
Wong’s day out featured both a two and a NTP – tidy little haul there.
Longest Putts
The long-range specialists:
Tom lived up to the royal title, closing his round with a princely roll on the last.
Random Card Draw
4BBB Grand Finale – Young Pups vs Wily Foxes
And now to what everyone’s been waiting for – the 36-hole grand final of the Men’s 4BBB.
The script almost wrote itself:
-
On one side, the young pups – Slade Thomas and Troy Murdoch – full of firepower, energy, and optimism.
-
On the other, the very experienced, wily old foxes – Bruce Cunningham and Holmes Byars – crafty, seasoned, and with more golf miles on the clock than they’d care to admit.
In the end, experience told. Bruce and Holmes produced a clinical performance, slowly tightening the screws until the result was inevitable:
Cunningham & Byars defeated Thomas & Murdoch, 7 & 5, in the 36-hole final.
A big win for the foxes, but credit to Slade and Troy for making it through to the final – their time will surely come.

Holmes, Bruce, Troy and Slade.
Wrapping It Up
Irish Stableford once again delivered everything it promises:
-
huge scores,
-
confused mental arithmetic,
-
big laughs,
-
and some very real quality golf – headlined by Alan “Brownie” Brown’s spectacular 81 and a card full of highlights across the field.
Add in the drama of the 4BBB finale, a few big birdie and eagle payouts, and some outrageous putts dropped from distance, and you’ve got another memorable Saturday at Queenstown Golf Club.
Until next time – may your multipliers be kind, your partners stay hot, and your golf never, ever be boring.
