Hi everyone,

What better way to kick off the New Year than a Choose Your Own Tees Stableford at Queenstown Golf Club. A great turnout, relaxed holiday vibes, and plenty of solid scoring made for an excellent start to 2026. The smiles on the tee were matched by smiles in the clubhouse — especially for those who found their way onto the prize list. We saw a few people mix up their tee colour today, maybe we'll get a few more doing the same next time!

Here’s how the first competition of the year shaped up.

Overall Stableford – Placegetters

1st – John “Boggy” McDowell – 42 points – $40
2nd – David Clearwater – 41 points – $35
3rd – Holmes Byars – 40 points – $30
4th – Rex Duncan – 40 points – $30
5th – Dean Corry – 39 points – $25
6th – Marie Patton – 39 points – $25
7th – Bill Grant – 39 points – $25
8th – Tony Moran – 39 points – $25
9th – Jaydee Oh – 38 points – $20
10th – Jeffery Smith – 38 points – $20
11th – Rob Taylor – 38 points – $20

A strong leaderboard to open the year, with Boggy setting the early benchmark on 42.

Twos Club

Plenty of action on the short holes, with the following players each collecting $6 for their two:

  • Jaydee Oh

  • Curtis Luff

  • Joel Popplewell

  • Tom James

  • Andrew Gunn

  • David Clearwater

  • Jeffery Smith

  • Tilly Grant

  • Greg Kerr

A good spread of names and a healthy start to the twos pot for 2026.

Birdies Draw – Hole 18

The birdies were drawn on Hole 18, with three winners each taking home $19:

  • Rob Taylor

  • Lewis Ferguson

  • Tom James

A fitting hole to finish strong — and a nice bonus to start the year.

Net Eagles Draw – Hole 2

The Net Eagles Draw landed on Hole 2, and it all belonged to Bill Davidson, who secured the entire $57 pot. A very tidy way to turn one good hole into a great payout.

Other Special Prizes

  • Longest PuttRob Taylor – $10

  • Nearest the PinCorey Sinteur – $10

  • Nearest the PinLynda Hensman – $10

Touch and accuracy both well rewarded.

Final Notes

A fantastic way to begin the golfing year - good numbers, good golf, and plenty of positive signs for what’s ahead. Congratulations to all our prize winners, and well played to everyone who took part.

We look forward to seeing you back out on the course very soon as the New Year competitions continue to roll along.
