Saturday Blue Tee Medal Wrap — 2nd August 2025

Dear Golfers,

If your hat didn’t blow off today, did you even play? It was a proper bluster out there — hats flying, flags flapping, and balls doing their own thing on the greens. But through the wind-tunnels of Queenstown Golf Club, you legends braved it out in the August edition of the Men's Blue Tee Medal.

Let’s take a look at who conquered the chaos…

Special Mentions – Spotlight on the Side Action

Best Net Medal Overall – Doug McGregor

Doug, you’ve absolutely nailed it mate! With a cracking 67 in those swirling gales, you take the honours with the Tankard as today’s Top Gun. Well played!

Random Twos Draw – Hole 11 Showstoppers

Congratulations to the army of twos on the 11th green — a tricky hole on any day, let alone in gale force winds. The following lucky lads pocketed $9 each:

  • John “Boggy” McDowell

  • Bruce Cunningham

  • James Han

  • Michael Wong

  • Euan Wilson

  • John M McDowell

  • John Leith

  • Aaron Hotop

  • Joel Popplewell

Birdies Draw – Hole 18 Pay-Off

Three sharpshooters cashed in for sweet birdies, each walking away with $26 for their feathered finish on the home hole:

  • James Sowerby

  • Liam Judkins

  • Reuben Williams-Warren

Net Eagles Draw – Hole 13 Jackpot!

And the crowd roars again for the mysterious Mr. Jack Pot, who’s swooped in on the 13th for a Net Eagle and a whopping $288 payout, keeping the pot nice and heavy for next week. No one knows how he does it.

Longest Putt & Nearest The Pin

  • Longest Putt: Liam Judkins – sinking a monster putt from the back of the green on hole 18 and scoring a Neat Meat voucher.

  • Nearest The Pin (x2):

    • Rob Taylor on hole 7.

    • John McDowell on hole 11.
Also walking away with Neat Meat vouchers. Those wedges must’ve had GPS today.

Random Card Draw Winner

The jackpot’s doubled today (literally): Mr. Jack Pot also cleaned up the Random Card Draw in absence of Mr. Golf - James Han that leaves $100 credit up for grabs next week.

Coming Up: Ladies Tuesday Showdown

And to our ladies… we haven’t forgotten you. The Medal & Putting results are still under wraps. Stay tuned for what promises to be a tight contest on Tuesday!

Thanks to everyone who braved the winds and made the most of the day. We’ll see you out on the fairways again soon — hopefully with a little less breeze and a little more birdies!
